A lake town with deep roots
The Handbook of Texas says Bardwell grew from a cotton gin John W. Bardwell built in the early 1880s, and the townsite moved when the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railway arrived in 1907. The 2020 Census counted 625 residents.
Just east of town is Bardwell Lake, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake on Waxahachie Creek. The Corps says construction began in 1963, the lake began filling in 1965, and at normal level it stretches 5.4 miles with 25 miles of shoreline.

Bardwell is inside Ennis ISD, so your child's school may well be near our center. Routes are still confirmed school by school at enrollment, so call with your child's school and grade and we will tell you whether morning drop-off and afternoon pickup are available for it.
